eAlchemy provides Fortune 500 apparel retailer with new tools for new online shoe brand.
Having started a new online shoe store to compete with Zappos.com, this client needed an array of tools to operate their emerging business line. With a completely new supply chain model, the tools used in other parts of the company weren't applicable, and shoe store-specific needs included enabling five-to-ten planners to work simultaneously, planning the purchases of each style, color, and size. Several reports were also needed in order to roll data up for management review and communicate plans to vendors. Time was of the essence.
Given the client’s familiarity with Excel, eAlchemy used the application as the front-end, supported by a back-end Access database. The intuitive Excel interface ensured end users would enjoy ease of interaction in an environment with which the team was comfortable, while the Access-based data warehouse (and a phased plan to upgrade to SQL Server) created a single point of data management and backup.
eAlchemy supports mushroom grower in upgrading their MS Access lot-tracking tools to SQL Server.
This client had originally built an Access-based lot-tracking system for their mushroom production facility. While reasonably sophisticated, the application had originally been built by a self-taught resource. Although it was an admirable effort, the application exhibited numerous data tracking issues and was becoming slow and unstable as a result of out-growing Access’s intended use.
eAlchemy assisted in migrating the data to a SQL Server database, facilitating automated data collection for their remote environment sensors. During the process, we revised many of the forms, improving data integrity and reliability. These changes not only improved reliability, but increased reporting capabilities and enabled more secure backup of the clients data, avoiding a potential nightmare data loss in a business-critical application.
eAlchemy integrates two business intelligence systems for Fortune 500 apparel retailer.
The client had set an aggressive plan to integrate the newly acquired organization into existing business processes and information systems, and eAlchemy was tasked with extending the current business intelligence environment to support the new e-commerce site-under an unusually tight timeframe.
Utilizing SQL Server Data Transformation Services (DTS), eAlchemy built data model adaptors to ensure information flowed smoothly from one system to another, providing the leadership team with necessary reporting continuity and keeping the business functioning through a period of rapid change. Per client feedback during post-mortem, eAlchemy exceeded expectations both in terms of scope of work completed and schedule.
eAlchemy integrates disparate data sources in BI environment for home automation innovator.
A highly respected technology company in its own right, this client turned to eAlchemy for help consolidating data from several inputs. Having partnered with various third party logistics providers (3PLs), reverse logistics, and outsource manufacturing partners, this client had access to an immense amount of valuable information. However, the time and resources being expended to facilitate daily, weekly, and monthly consolidation was unsustainable. The team was being distracted from business-critical efforts in forecasting sales, planning for new distribution channels, and managing product lifecycles as a result.
eAlchemy quickly designed and deployed a suite of reliable tools that brought all data together into a single source environment, optimizing reporting and analysis, streamlining data management processes, and saving double-digit work hours each week.
eAlchemy develops unique algorithm to evaluate candidates for Inc. 5000 technology recruiting client.
This influential executive/technology recruiting firm needed a better method of identifying the best prospective candidates for positions with their clients. With over hundreds of thousands candidates in their database, the search for the right person could be decidedly laborious. Fortunately, the client had a tremendous amount of data available to assist in making these decisions.
eAlchemy pioneered a creative new algorithm to score potential candidates by incorporating several factors, from the prestige of their colleges and employers to the previous evaluations of other recruiters. We also helped access vast amounts of additional data from disparate sources, de-duplicating and cleansing data throughout the process. These efforts helped reduce the labor necessary to fill positions by nearly 25%.
eAlchemy creates transparent, reliable promotion management tools for Fortune 500 apparel retailer.
The “spreadsheet shuffle” is an all-too-familiar story. This client had fallen prey to using one basic tool to manage marketing promotions, which had spider-webbed into numerous out-of-sync versions across the organization. There was no central data repository, and as a consequence, enterprise-wide visibility into business-critical information was impossible.
eAlchemy developed a robust front- and back-end architecture–built around Excel, VBA, and SQL Server–with a single, universally-adapted version of the tool. Intuitive drop-down menus enabled data population and saving, and the tool allowed staff throughout the organization to use the tool locally while having data stored in a central repository. This solution saved a great deal of employee time, ran more smoothly and reliably, ensured consistency throughout the process, and facilitated company-wide reporting to support executive decisions.
eAlchemy develops custom data integration tools for ISV serving several Fortune 500 manufacturers.
This independent software vendor had a novel method of analyzing production and sales data that enabled large companies like GE and Nucor Steel to increase profitability simply by better prioritizing resources. An ongoing challenge, however, was that this client’s customers provided data in a wide range of entirely unique formats.
To efficiently manage these various data sources and formats, eAlchemy built a robust, Access- and Oracle-based data transformation tool that aggregated an array of inputs, reducing monthly staffing requirements for data loads by more than 25%.
eAlchemy develops weekly report tools for Fortune 500 apparel retailer.
Oftentimes, an initially simple report will iteratively evolve into an unwieldy resource drain, and this client was maintaining a weekly report requiring manual data consolidation from three different inputs. The associated time and hassle created major headaches and almost guaranteed data entry errors within information critical to sound business decisions.
Using Excel and VBA to automate the process, eAlchemy was able to save our client several hours per week and eliminating weekend reporting efforts, while also adding much greater reliability into the process. Perhaps most significantly, the custom tools we created were time-saving and more efficient, enabling the team to drill down to new levels of detail for clearer analysis and improved business decisions.
